Another paper tha confirms the explanatory srength of the MCT model -this time in depression- is by Yilmaz and Wells. The paper has shown that either negative beliefs and positive beliefs about rumination explained a significant amount of variance in depressive symptoms above and beyond dysfunctional cognitive schemata when controlling for anxiety. The paper is "Unique Contributions of Metacognition and Cognition to Depressive Symptoms" by Yilmaz, Gencoz and Wells and is published on The Journal of General Psychology, 2015, 142(1), 23-33.
